Surface preparation
• Surface to be coated must be dry and cleand of all rust, oil, dirt, dust ....etc., (in accordance with SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning). • Priming A. Surfaces reaching a maximum of 90°C :- Primer :- • GTC Red Oxide Primer/GTC Zinc Phosphate Primer. • GTC Zinc Chromate Primer. B. Surfaces reaching a maximum of 250°C :- Primer :- • A thin coat of GTC Aluminium Paint.
Application details
• Purpose of Usage of Aluminium Paint: Intended for a two or three finish coat applications over suitably sealed/primed, puttied and undercoated surfaces.
Mixing and thinning
Material must be properly mixed before use. Thinning is usually not recommended, If necessary use GTC 002 Thinner (Max 15-10% by volume). • Method of application: GTC Aluminium Paint can be applied by brush, roller, conventional and airless spray.
Important restrictions
1. Old surfaces where flakes, pealed off coats...etc must be scraped back to a firm edge, and touch primed with suitable primer as detailed above. 2. When applying GTC Aluminium Paint over surfaces reaching 250°C surface of machinery/equipment should be shut down and then put into operation where gradual heating is carried out. 3. For application over bare steel, it is recommended to abrasive blast clean to SA 2½ Swedish Standard SSPC-SP10 Standard.
Cleaning tools
For cleaning tools and equipments use GTC002 Thinner.
Application conditions
At a temperature ranging 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F). Relative humidity is below 75%.
Storage and handling
Product must be stored as per local regulations and should be kept in dry well ventilated location far from heat and direct sunlight. Can should be tightly closed after use. Mix well before use. Storage temperature range between 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F).
Surface preparation
GTC Aluminium Paint is formulated according to Kuwait Standard Specification modified K.S.S. 20/1992 and has been passed as suitable for use in Kuwait by Government Laboratories and Testing Stations.
Safety precautions
The following notes should be considered when using/applying painting material:- (a) Take precautions to prevent material entering the eyes (goggles should be worn, irrigate the eyes with water when become contaminated and obtain medical care at once). (b) Take precautions to avoid skin contact (gloves should be worn, barrier cream should be used). (c) Ensure that repeated contact of paint with skin is avoided. (d) Provide adequate ventilation. (Face masks must be worn). (e) Keep away from sparks and open flames (for solvent-based materials).
