Product description

A solvent-borne single pack Undercoat / Finish Coat Chlorinated Rubber Based Material intended for application in New Construction / Maintenance & Repair Projects over concrete and steel structures.

Special features

• Excellent adhesion to steel surfaces. • Resistant to moderately aggressive environments. • Resistant to immersion in fresh, brackish and salt water. • Resistant to fungal / mould growth. • Easy maintenance after extended periods of time. • Suitable for low temperature applications. • Can be used as a Build Coat over suitably primed substrates with Chlorinated Rubber Primers and/or sound previously coated surfaces with Chlorinated Rubber Finishes. • Can also be applied over concrete and masonry substrates where alkali resistance is anticipated.

Where to use

As a protective and decorative film / coat over Internally as well as Externally exposed steel and concrete structures i.e., • Bridges and flyovers • Structural Steel Sheets • Areas subjected to total, partial or intermittent spillages/immersion/attack of salt and fresh water • Steel Beams • Chemical Plants • Machinery and Equipments

Standards and approvals

Supportive information is available upon request to establish an assessment to be acquired as with regards to product's compliance with/to a particular authority's queries / specifications. Please consult with GTC Technical Service Dept.

Surface preparation

• Degrease areas where grease, oil, soil and other surface contamination where exist in accordance with SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning (Use GTC 002 Thinner). • Accumulated dirt and soluble salts should be removed. Fresh water washing is recommended. • When applied as a High Build Finish Coat ensure surface of existing primer is dry, clean and salt/dust free prior to application process. • For application over concrete and masonry hand wire brushing / mechanical power tool cleaning to SSPC-SP2 and/or SSPC-SP3 Standards are normally adequate; yet ensure surface is dry and clean prior to application procedure.

Where to use

Intended for a single or two coat applications over suitably primed steel / concrete surfaces and sound previously coated finish coats of Chlorinated Rubber Material.

Mixing and thinning

Material must be properly mixed and is recommended for thinning with GTC044CR Thinner as per below table:- | APPLICATION METHOD | BRUSH/ROLLER | CONV. SPRAY | AIRLESS SPRAY | |------------------------|--------------|---------------------|---------------| | Thinning by volume (% Max.) | 10% | * Not Recommended | 5% | * Conventional Spray Application is not recommended.

Important restrictions

• Brush and Roller can be used for small/confined areas; yet film build only likely to be achieved by multi-coat applications. • Material tends to soften and decompose above 80 °C (176 °F). • Material must be overcoated with Chlorinated Rubber Paints only. • Thicker films remain soft and therefore should be allowed longer than stated Minimum Overcoating Intervals inorder to minimize Solvent Entrapment. • An excellent corrosion resistant system can be introduced when overcoated with Getachlor High Gloss Finish - CRF Series.

Cleaning tools

For cleaning tools and equipments use GTC044 CR Thinner.

Application conditions

At a temperature ranging 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F). Relative humidity is below 75%.

Storage and handling

Product must be stored as per local regulations and should be kept in dry well ventilated location far from heat and direct sunlight. Can should be tightly closed after use. Mix well before use. Storage temperature range between 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F).

Safety precautions

The following notes should be considered when using/applying painting material:- (a) Take precautions to prevent material entering the eyes (goggles should be worn, irrigate the eyes with water when become contaminated and obtain medical care at once). (b) Take precautions to avoid skin contact (gloves should be worn, barrier cream should be used). (c) Ensure that repeated contact of paint with skin is avoided. (d) Provide adequate ventilation. (Face masks must be worn). (e) Keep away from sparks and open flames (for solvent-based materials).
