Product description

A distinctive quality two-pack Heavy Duty Zinc Chromate Epoxy Primer suitable for application over metal surfaces for new construction and/or maintenance & repair projects.

Special features

☐ Excellent adhesion on metals surfaces ☐ A tough and smooth hard wearing film. ☐ Especially designed for application over galvanized steel where a two pack epoxy/polyurethane finish is required. ☐ Resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage. ☐ Light yellow colour, providing a minimized number of heavy duty top coats. ☐ Outstanding resistance to corrosive environment.

Where to use

As an Anti-corrosive Primer over Internally/Externally exposed structural steel, non-ferrous metals and galvanized steel. i.e. ☐ Tank Exterior ☐ Petrochemical Plants ☐ Steel Structure in refineries & power plants ☐ Pipeline external surfaces ☐ High voltage transmission towers and galvanized street lighting poles. ☐ Equipments and metal structure exposed to sea and severely corrosive environments.

Standards and approvals

Supportive information is available upon request to establish an assessment to be acquired as with regards to product's compliance with/to a particular authority's queries / specifications. Please consult with GTC Technical Service Dept.

Surface preparation

1. Degrease areas where grease, oil, soil and surface contamination exist in accordance with SSPC-SP1 Solvent Cleaning. (Use GTC002 Thinner). 2. Structural steel should be blast cleaned in accordance with SSPC-SP10 Standard (SA2½ Swedish Standard). 3. Surface defects revealed upon completion of blasting procedure should be treated as per individual situation (filling, grinding, replacement, patching ... etc.). 4. If oxidation is experienced after blasting, it is recommended to re-blast to the mentioned standard. 5. Surfaces to be coated must be dry, clean and contamination free prior to paint and application process.

Where to use

Intended for a single coat application over well prepared steel surfaces, (Ferrous / Non-ferrous / Galvanized).

Mixing and thinning

Material must be properly mixed and is recommended for thinning with GTC099 Thinner as per below table:- | Application Method | Brush/ Roller | Conv. Spray | Airless Spray | | Thinning by Vol (% Max.) | 10 % | 20% | 5 % |

Important restrictions

☐ For maximum performance, curing temperatures should be above 10 °C (50 °F) since material will not adequately cure below 5 °C (41 °F). ☐ Two pack epoxies are commonly known to chalk upon external exposure. ☐ It is not recommended to apply two pack epoxy material over 50 °C (122 °F)

Cleaning tools

For cleaning tools and equipments use GTC099 Thinner.

Application conditions

At a temperature ranging 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F). Relative humidity is below 75%.

Storage and handling

Product must be stored as per local regulations and should be kept in dry well ventilated location far from heat and direct sunlight. Can should be tightly closed after use. Mix well before use. Storage temperature range between 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104 °F).

Safety precautions

The following notes should be considered when using/applying painting material:- (a) Take precautions to prevent material entering the eyes (goggles should be worn, irrigate the eyes with water when become contaminated and obtain medical care at once). (b) Take precautions to avoid skin contact (gloves should be worn, barrier cream should be used). (c) Ensure that repeated contact of paint with skin is avoided. (d) Provide adequate ventilation. (Face masks must be worn). (e) Keep away from sparks and open flames (for solvent-based materials).
